Internal data from Lands of America shows about $788 million in land and other rural acreage for sale in the Coyote State. The combined size of land for sale in the state is 193,444 acres. Of the 66 counties in South Dakota, Lawrence County had the most land and acreage for sale. There were 520 acres of sold land in South Dakota recorded in November through the Lands of America sales program. This reflects a decrease in sales activity over data from the previous month. The total value of this sold land and rural real estate was $14 million. The most land sales in the state last month were located in Pennington County. Although 80 percent of land in South Dakota is privately owned, there's still room for over five million acres of state-managed land. The state boasts some of the nation's best pheasant hunting, with annual pheasant harvests regularly topping one million birds each year.
